One day, I tuned into the England-based radio show, Anne’s Rock Show on EGH Radio, and someone in the chat recommended I check out this rock band in Canada. I had a listen, and absolutely fell in love with the groovy, catchy, bluesy, nostalgic sound of Ellis In Transit!

When I first heard Ellis In Transit’s single, Gucci Socialist, it took me back to being a little kid in the ’90s who looked forward to growing up and going music venue hopping to check out cool bands, the way they do in the movies.

Originally an acoustic duo in Scotland, Alexandria Shankland and Philip James  moved to Hamilton, Ontario, added bassist Francesco Citino and drummer Keagan Early to the group to form the four-piece we hear today.

I just read their bio, and their first show as a band was The Sound Of Music Festival 2018 in Burlington, ON- I was there! I went to check out Rainbow Butt Monkeys! For those who need clarifying, that’s Finger Eleven’s first band name- they were playing all their songs as Rainbow Butt Monkeys!

Quoting the band’s press release: “Gucci Socialist is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the term “champagne socialist”. The song pokes fun at trust fund, nepotism babies who play the part of the struggling indie musician in an effort to relate to their audience.”
