ERIKA SIROLA BREAKS FREE WITH CAPTIVATING NEW SINGLE "THERE WAS A BOY" FROM HER SELF-LAUNCHED EP

Erika Sirola introduces her first independent release ‘There Was a Boy’ with a captivating and eerie electronic pop sound. The song, released through her label, The Gate Was Open, represents a significant leap in creative freedom for Sirola. Exploring the Jungian archetypes within us, ‘There Was a Boy’ delves into the masks we wear and the hidden aspects of ourselves that lurk beneath the surface.

Written and produced by Sirola and Oscar Scheller in Los Angeles, the track draws inspiration from Nat King Cole’s ‘Nature Boy’. However, ‘There Was a Boy’ takes a different approach, capturing a sense of anxiety and uncertainty about the future. The chorus acts as an alarm, awakening listeners to the introspective journey that awaits. Sirola’s lyricism presents the perspective of a personified mask, enticing us with the allure of self-actualization and the temptation to embrace different personas.

Accompanying the release is a visually stunning music video, crafted by Sirola herself. Incorporating approximately 2000 images, half of which were captured and processed through a generative AI program, the video poses the question of whether an authentic self exists beyond the various personas we adopt. It delves into the fluidity of energy that traverses through every facet of our being.

Overall, ‘There Was a Boy’ showcases Sirola’s artistic growth and willingness to explore new sonic territories. Her unique blend of electronic pop, combined with thought-provoking lyrics, leaves listeners captivated by the depth and complexity of her musical storytelling. This release marks a significant milestone in Sirola’s career, solidifying her status as a boundary-pushing and independent artist.
