“Shiver” – The Eight Five Two
This dreamy, emotional, hard-hitting, romantic song by Australian indie rock collective, The Eight Five Two is about not being able to let go of a past romantic experience that you have a heavy desire to relive. Accepting it’s meant to be nothing but a distant memory, you feel every emotion in your heart. This song gave me goosebumps!
The Eight Five Two is comprised of the De La Hoyde brothers: John, Joe, Nick and Timm, who have spent years in a place in Hong Kong’s Lantau Island, fittingly called Discovery Bay, as they each aspire to always learn and discover new ideas. I have a feeling we’ll be hearing alot from these talented brothers in the years to come!
“Let It Burn” – Oliver/ Aberson
A soulful collaboration featuring Edwin Canito Garcia (bass), Tye Slagle (guitar) & Corey Mauser (keys), “Let It Burn” by American vocalist/writer Stephanie Oliver & Henry Aberson drummer/ producer/ writer is about the failed relationship between a beautiful young woman and a conservative older man, the complications, the fantasy and difficult reality.
“Hang It Up” – Henry Aberson
Another neo-soul single by American drummer/ producer, Henry Aberson, eat. Nariah Taylor & Korey Keys, “Hang It Up” solidifies the fact that he collaborates with some of the best of the best artists out there!
“Feather Age” – Kabinett
Hailing from south-west Germany, neo-soul group, Kabinett has released their latest single “Feather Age”! The song posesses a striking juxtaposition between the upbeat, danceable, carefree disco beat, paired with the dystopian message of the world being oppressed by evil seagulls who take away any rights and freedoms of speech or free thought, leaving the world with propaganda and violence. The metaphor of the seagulls adds a light-hearted touch to a hard-hitting topic, which (as someone who doesn’t have any interest in politics) can appeal to the masses!
“Discord Nitro” – badxyou
“Discord Nitro” is a playful, glitchy, alternative pop song based on the true love story of meeting a girl on Discord, which lead to writing this song!
Badxyou are “a bicoastal threesome combining pop music and internet culture into a giant sonic punch in the face.” Consisting of lead vocalist/songwriter Andy Gruhin, guitarist and video editor Ethan Heckard, and sound design and mixer Connor Gallihugh (aka Grem).
