Have you ever met someone, and fallen deeply in love thinking, “Maybe this is it! This is my forever!”, just for time to clear the smoke-and-mirrors for you to see the connection wasn’t actually real? Besides a broken heart, the aftermath involves changing your hair color, running into the person in public and not recognizing them as someone you loved? Houston-based pop-country sister duo, Wild Fire has released your breakup theme song in their latest single, “When It Wasn’t”!
The duo is comprised of sisters Kelli and Kayla Iutzwig, who have been singing since they weren’t even old enough to sing along to Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber! They started studying singing with with celebrated vocal coach Pamela Moore when each of the girls were 6 years old.
Since forming in 2016, these young ladies have many impressive professional accomplishments under their belts: they’ve wowed audiences at the Houston Rodeo, NRG Stadium, NRG Arena, Kemah Boardwalk, Firehouse Saloon, White Oak Music Hall, Typhoon Texas and the University of Houston Stadium, among many other venues. They reached the semifinals of Houston Rodeo’s Rodeo Rockstar competition in 2016 — and have made it to the finals in 2017. That same year they made it to the final round of the Huntsville Superstar competition in Huntsville, TX. In 2018, they took first prize as Female Vocalist of the Year in the Young Adult category at the Josie Music Awards, held at the Celebrity Theater inside Dolly Parton’s Dollywood theme park!
I was surprised to see these sisters are still teenagers, as the lyrics to “When It Wasn’t” are wise beyond their years! With their combined songwriting and performance, I feel these young, talented ladies can be the next Taylor Swift!
