BRITISH-AUSTRALIAN SONGWRITER, VORSEN RELEASES "HALF AS MUCH"

Let’s get personal: have you ever endured the heartache of that moment in a significant relationship when it becomes an imbalanced dynamic, feelings unreciprocated, thus, crumbling to nothing, ultimately leading to it ending? Phew. As you heal from the trauma that accompanies the end of said significant relationship: you seep into a deep depression, question what went wrong, still left missing elements of the relationship, but there is no way of turning around to give it another try. The damage was already said and done.
The latest single from British-Australian producer and songwriter, Vorsen titled “half as much” embodies this feeling lyrically, while paired with a chill, upbeat energy, juxtaposing the dark theme.
Vorsen on the single: “It’s a happy/sad song, while the lyrics are somewhat sombre, I wanted the track to reflect the cathartic sense of knowing when the feelings between two people aren’t mutual anymore. The track is a seamless mesh of dreamy synths, pop drums, and an array of homespun percussion. The track was written, produced, and recorded in the bedroom of a London flat. I tried to use sounds immediately available to me to spice things up and to be honest I had a lot of fun with it! I recorded a bunch of rhythms in my kitchen using glasses, cutlery, salt shakers, etc., and used a lot of that on the track. I really leant into making the beat organically on this one. If you listen carefully you can even hear a lot of accidental spacebars from my keyboard that became part of the beat! I’m still trying to decide whether some of these fun mistakes were a product of expression or laziness, either way, they made the cut.”
